COVID-19: Frequently Asked Questions
The constant developments regarding COVID and the way it may affect us can be difficult to navigate on your own. But you are not alone and may find some clarity in answers to some of the questions we receive frequently here at our facility.
How does it spread?
COVID-19 is primarily spread through small droplets and particles that can be contracted from breathing in the particles, "touching eyes, nose, or mouth with hands that have the virus on them", or having infected particles land directly on those areas. For more information about the spread of COVID-19 visit cdc.gov.
How can I protect myself?
The CDC advises wearing a well-fitting mask, staying six feet away from others, wash your hands frequently, cover your coughs and sneezes, and disinfecting high touch areas like door handles or light switches. If you would like to learn more about these or other ways to protect yourself and others you can visit cdc.gov.
What should I do if I test positive?
We currently recommend following the CDC guidelines for quarantine which is 5 days from the time you were first exposed, tested positive, or developed symptoms. More information may be found regarding quarantine and isolation at CDC.gov.
When am I no longer contagious?
According to the CDC isolation can end at least 5 days after symptom onset and after fever ends for 24 hours (without the use of fever-reducing medication) and symptoms are improving. For more specific information visit CDC.gov.
How long will the test take?
Collecting a sample using a nasal swab only takes a few moments. Once a sample is collected it takes about an hour for the sample to be processed and for the test to be completed.
